WHO WE ARE

The BC4LS is a simultaneous virtual and physical knowledge centre, whose principal objective is to reflect on one of the greatest challenges of our age, namely long-term sustainability, to position Budapest and Hungary in international cultural life, and to create and operate a global intellectual field of force

A key objective of the Centre is to initiate international dialogues on the issue of long-term sustainability, to organise professional events, research programmes and competitions, to operate platforms based on the sharing of good practices, to prepare publications, and to promote excellent research and professional activities. Our mission is to contribute to transforming thinking about a sustainable future.

Members, and researchers of the BC4LS are foreign and domestic experts dealing with long-term sustainability as well as scientific members of the academia. The global nature of the initiative is also demonstrated by the fact that the Centre welcomes participants to its programmes from all over the world.

BC4LS RESEARCh PROGRAMME 2022/23

The Budapest Centre for Long-term Sustainability (BC4LS) is pleased to announce its special Research Programme for the academic year 2022-23 in six research areas in connection with sustainability to highly accomplished senior and promising scholars seeking to spend shorter or longer period in an interdisciplinary intellectual community.

We would like to encourage our Researchers to explore new frontiers in social sciences both in terms of the disciplines covered and methodologies deployed. To create an inspiring environment for academic experimentation and novel research, we welcome visiting scholars from an extensive range of disciplines related to our primary areas of research.

    THE CENTRE

    The Centre is located at the heart of the Castle district which is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Budapest. It stands opposite the tower of the medieval church of Mary Magdalene, next to Kapisztrán square and the Museum of Military History.
